Students pepper sprayed during large fight outside D.C. school

Five people were sprayed with mace outside a public charter school, and one was taken to a hospital Monday, according to D.C. fire and police officials.

It happened around noon outside the Booker T. Washington Charter School at 13th Street and Florida Avenue Northwest, police said. Police were called to the school where students were involved in a large melee. Pepper spray was dispensed during the incident. One student who had trouble breathing was taken to the hospital.

School representatives could not be reached Monday afternoon.
