First-degree murder charge filed in 7-Eleven stabbing

A 36-year-old man has been arrested and charged Thursday in the early morning fatal stabbing of a 7-Eleven worker in Gaithersburg.

According to Montgomery County Police, shortly before 2 a.m. Thursday, patrol officers responded to a report of a stabbing at the convenience store at 9051 Snouffer School Road.

As the officers arrived at the 7-Eleven, the saw a man exiting the store with what appeared to be blood on his hands and clothing. Officers handcuffed the suspect and found a bloody box cutter-style knife in the suspect’s sweatshirt pocket, police said.

The suspect tried to run away while handcuffed but was quickly captured, police said.

Inside the store, officers discovered an adult male 7-Eleven employee suffering from cutting wounds to his neck, chin and wrists.  The victim was transported to a local hospital where he died. His identification has not being released at this time.

Police said two 7-Eleven employees were in the store when the suspect entered and attacked one of the workers unprovoked. The second employee called 911.

The suspect has been identified as Shaun David King, age 36.  Detectives have not confirmed his address at this time.  He has been charged with first-degree murder.
