Sixteen-year-old George Waymer Jr. was playing basketball with friends near his home in Fairmount Heights when he was fatally shot.

“I believe somebody saw something out there,” said Det. Jeffery Eckrich. “I believe George and his friends weren’t the only people approached that night. Those people might not have contacted the police that night, but if they believe they were approached by the subjects, they could contact the homicide unit. Or Crime Solvers.”

The case is one of those featured today in Wanted Wednesday, a weekly series put on by Prince George’s County Police seeking the public’s help to find area fugitives or suspects. The feature shows surveillance videos, photographs for readers to review.

Waymer was shot and killed on the night of July 8, 2012, in the 5700 block of Aspen Street.  Detectives believe robbery was the likely motive. They’re looking for a green Ford Crown Victoria seen in the area that night.

George’s mother, Laquette Dunn, is urging anyone with information to please come forward.

“I do know that justice needs to be served and whoever did this to my son needs to be put away,” Dunn said, “because they could very well do this to someone else’s child, or another person, and that’s not right.”

Anyone with information can contact Crime Solvers at and 1 (866) 4110-TIPS.
