Woman, 80, killed in row house fire in NW Washington

D.C. police and fire officials are investigating a house fire that killed an 80-year-old woman in Northwest Washington.

Shortly before 6 a.m., Thursday, D.C. fire officials received a call of a house fire in the 4600 block of 4th Street NW.  After putting out the blaze at a three-story row house, firefighters found an adult female inside. She was pronounced dead at the scene, and was taken to the chief medical examiner’s office for an autopsy.

The woman was later identified as 80-year-old Lucille Proctor.

The cause of fire remains under investigation.
