D.C. woman sentenced for killing neighbor in front of child

A District woman was sentenced to 35 years in prison for killing her next door neighbor in front of the neighbor’s 6-year-old daughter.

Cydrissa Alvin, 33, was found guilty in December of first-degree murder while armed for the 2012 stabbing in Southeast Washington.stab and knife

According to prosecutors, on June 4, 2012, around 9 a.m., Alvin knocked on the door of her former friend, 28-year-old Amber Kent.

Kent, who was still in her pajamas, answered the door, and almost immediately was attacked by Alvin.

Within seconds, Alvin stabbed Kent three times, once in the chest and twice in the back. The killing happened in the presence of Kent’s 6-year-old girl.

After the stabbing, Alvin quickly fled the scene and was arrested hours later at Malcolm X Elementary after she went to pick up her child, documents said.

Witnesses said Alvin was a frequent user of PCP.
