Kahlil Malik Tatum, a person of interest in the disappearance of an 8-year-old D.C. girl, has been charged with the murder of his wife.

Tatum’s 51-year-old spouse, Andrea Denise Tatum, was found dead Thursday in an Oxon Hill hotel room by police looking for the missing child, Relisha Tenau Rudd.

D.C. police issued an Amber Alert for Relisha, and continue to search for the girl from Southeast Washington.

Police believe that the 8-year-old may still be with Tatum, of the 2500 block of N Street SE in Washington.

Police believe Tatum left the hotel before police arrived and drove away in a white 1976 pickup truck that was discovered Thursday evening in the 1600 block of Eastern Avenue in Chapel Oaks.

Relisha’s mother Shamika Young told NBC4 that she has known Tatum for years and trusted him with her daughter. She pleaded for the return of Relisha.

“Bring my daughter back to me right now,” Young said. “It’s crazy. I want to know what’s going on.”

Relisha was last seen Feb. 26 at a shelter on 1900 block of Massachusetts Avenue NE. She was picked up someone known to her family, but she was never returned.

Anyone with information about the whereabouts of Relisha, is asked to call 911 or the D.C. police command center at (202) 727-9099.
