“It’s entirely possible that Scott McCabe isn’t a badass. You just wouldn’t know from his photo.” —TBD.com

Scott McCabe covers crime and courts in a city known for politics, scandal and murder. The New York Times dubbed him “the capital’s version of John Walsh” for his Most Wanted reporting work that led to the arrest of more than 53 fugitives.

Before coming to Washington, D.C., McCabe worked in South Florida where he discovered the lost graves of the area’s first settlers. The tombs had been destroyed by town residents in the early 1900s because the settlers were black. The city of Lake Worth and the U.S. Postal Service commemorated the discovery with a permanent, historic marker.

McCabe covered the disputed 2000 election between George W. Bush and Al Gore, and coordinated The Palm Beach Post’s ballot recount which revealed how the butterfly ballot cost Gore the White House.
